As you climb the stairs, the decadent textures and patterns delight rather than overwhelm, and the beds with bright yellow cushions and needlework leopard throws whilst most irregular, just work perfectly. There are four standards of room; Classic, Superior, Deluxe and Prestige, each with a little more space than the last. Those with baths host enormous freestanding ceramic tubs stepping out onto luxurious marble and those with showers have walls that are tiled to look cushioned. Whichever standard you choose has little details to spark joy. What do you think about it?

The bistro below the hotel is open to the public and guests, serving lunch and dinner every day (and brunch on Sundays) you’ll find french delicacies from foie gras to nicoise as well as the unexpected XXL burger. More spectacularly, is the gourmet restaurant, headed by renowned chef Sylvestre Wahid.

Wahid was mentored by Alain Ducasse, before becoming Head of the Oustau de Baumanière and winning the restaurant two Michelin Stars. He favours french service and with only twenty covers the atmosphere is intimate.

Filled with delights such as Mille-Feuille and croissants that are perfectly flakey, you won’t need to venture far for a taste of real french patisserie. It is truly artistic and chock full of irresistible sweet treats. If you happen to come to the end of your stay and want a little more of Hotel Thoumieux, their fudge comes in little gift pouches available to take home so that you can ensure the very unique taste of the Hotel and Patisserie Thoumieux lasts a little longer.
