Never-Ending Experiences At Salone Del Mobile 2022

LUXXU

Even though we reached the halfway point of Salone del Mobile 2022, LUXXU is constantly bringing out the best of design and craftsmanship. The living room was a major hit for our visitors, and if you’ve visited us in Hall 2 – B19-C18, we’re sure you were delighted to have this experience!

Continuing the New Era Set In Stone trend, this time the Algerone Sofa caught the attention of many since it was designed to express the ultimate expression of comfort and luxury in a single piece. It is upholstered in smooth brown velvet and emphasizes the classical lines and geometric features that the Algerone family is best known for. The Algerone Sofa is sure to become the envy of any living room style.

Meanwhile, the Algerone Set Center Table is here to give a little bit of contrast and with its architectural allure, makes it ideal for luxury environments such as a living room or a home cinema. Design With Nature

With “Design with Nature,” a major exhibition/installation that will offer triggers for reflection on the future of design practice, the Salone del Mobile 2022 in Milan explores the relationship between nature and the way we live once again. The project, which was created in collaboration with architect Mario Cucinella and explores the themes of circular economy and reuse, begins with the idea that cities could be possible “reserves” of the future, where most of the raw materials used in construction could be sourced. From this vantage point, urban areas may present genuine new opportunities to reduce environmental impact.

Talk: There Will Always Be A Design Emergency

In Salone del Mobile 2022, this talk will feature two international design figures, Paola Antonelli, Senior Curator in the Department of Architecture and Design and Director of Research and Development at MoMA, and the journalist, critic, and design expert Alice Rawsthorn, who have discussed the amazing diversity of design and its efficacy in tackling urgent problems through their Design Emergency Instagram Live series of talks (@design.emergency). The series inspired a book, Design Emergency: Building a Better Future, which was released in May by Phaidon.

Green Grads

The first edition of GREEN GRADS was part of the Planted Design Show during the London Design Festival in September 2021 at Samsung KX at King’s Cross. GREEN GRADS, created and curated by design advocate and commentator Barbara Chandler, and co-directed by Michael Czerwinski of Studio Tucktite, showcases new graduate talent from across the UK, exploring products and projects with a diverse and stimulating mix of “green” ideas that promote sustainability, biophilia, and a cleaner, greener way of life. The GREEN GRADS tell all at SaloneSatellite, part of Salone del Mobile 2022, in a film created especially for the SaloneSatellite by David Morris, editor of Design Exchange magazine and director of Flying Film Lab.

An itinerant exhibition makes its way through the EuroCucina and International Bathroom Exhibition pavilions. Through 250 pieces that have received Compasso d’Oro honorable mentions or awards, it tells a chapter in the unparalleled story of Italian design, built on discoveries, technology, design, and business culture, customs, and sociality.

La Scatola Magica

To commemorate its 60th anniversary, the Salone del Mobile 2022 is establishing its values, as well as its close ties with Milan and the companies and designers who have made it famous around the world. A monumental site-specific film installation based on the 11 values that have always been embedded in Salone’s DNA, curated by Davide Rampello, Creative and Artistic Director of Rampello & Partners Creative Studio, will feature in the stunning setting of the Palazzo Reale’s Sala delle Cariatidi. Eleven auteur films by eleven leading Italian filmmakers will be shown. Each filmmaker has taken a term from the Manifesto and interpreted it in their own distinct style, transforming it into a short film.
