PAD London
This eagerly anticipated edition will debut outstanding works by emerging and iconic talents while also shedding light on rare, ancient techniques, new sustainable crafts, and innovative materials that shape design today. It will do so in a manner faithful to the distinctive flair and originality that have helped to forge PAD’s reputation over the years.
“It is a joy to be back in London. This new edition of PAD captures all the elements that constitute the fair’s DNA: a curated gathering of the world’s most visionary gallerists and creators, driven by a common goal to champion exceptional work, new talent, innovation, and craftsmanship; a desire to inspire the most spectacular interiors by sparking a conversation between past and present and most of all, a commitment to break down barriers between the disciplines of art, design, and jewelry in order to foster creativity.”
– Patrick Perrin, Founder, and CEO of PAD fairs
New York dealer Cristina Grajales, a pioneer in the field of contemporary design, will commemorate her 16-year partnership with French designer Christophe Côme with a booth entirely devoted to the latter’s body of work in glass and enamel.
Young Design Talents
By giving young artists a platform, PAD highlights fresh works by up-and-coming artists from around the globe. These artists include Léa Mestres (Galerie Scène Ouverte), whose pop designs with soft, enveloping forms and radiant colors have quickly gained a following, and Chinese innovative material designer Jie Wu (Gallery FUMI), whose artworks and furniture are made by casting antique rosewood in resin of various colors.
Sustainable Design
Many of the fair’s designers and artists place a strong emphasis on cutting-edge sustainable practices and ethically sourced materials. Among them are two designers from Mexico who are dedicated to upholding the tradition of artisanal craftsmanship in their nation: Industrial designers Juan José Nemer and Mauricio Alvarez of the design team ad hoc (Ammann / Gallery) create objects and furniture in collaboration with local artisans using premium materials like ixtle, as well as industrial designer Fernando Laposse (Sarah Myerscough Gallery), who works with indigenous communities to create striking marquetry made from the colorful leaves of Mexican maize (a natural fiber from agave).
Craftsmanship: Embracing Heritage and Innovation
Year after year, PAD has introduced maestros and young artisans who cultivate rare, century-old techniques, invent new crafts, and experiment with unconventional materials. This year, ceramics and glass artists occupy a prime position. Textile art and works in paper will also go on view, with a new oak cabinet featuring woven fabric made of Japanese paper.
Sparking A Dialogue Between Past and Present
The goal of PAD, which was founded in 2007, has always been to inspire the most distinctive interiors by igniting a conversation between art and design, disciplines and eras, and the past and present. The latest iteration is not an exception. The retro-futuristic works of the Beirut-based design studio David/Nicolas, the joyful metal furniture of the Belgian contemporary designer Xavier Lust, and highly sought-after examples of 1960s Brazilian design can all be found in the booth of Milan gallery Nilufar.
Interior Decorators and Designers
At the fair, a number of renowned interior designers and decorators will debut their work. A carefully curated booth combining sensual shapes, warm tones, irresistible fabrics, and noble materials will host the world debut of Charles Zana Mobilier, a new furniture line from the celebrated Parisian architect and interior designer Charles Zana.
