Christian Dior ‘s exhibition at Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris featured historic gowns!

The beautiful city of Paris is and will continue to be one of the ultimate destinations for fashion and luxury design. This month for example, the city experienced not only the Haute Couture Fashion Week but also an outstanding exhibition by none other than Christian Dior.

The internationally known fashion brand, held an exhibition at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, which spread out over 3,000 square meters. And it was definitely not another exhibition that celebrates a famous designer, I mean it included over 300 of the brand’s finest dresses!

The goal was to celebrate Dior‘s 17th anniversary presenting the brand’s most impressive works and gowns to visitors. Curated by Florence Müller, the exhibition featured the best works of John Galliano, Raf Simons and Maria Grazia Chiuri, aka Dior at its finest.

Starting with a classic red gown from 1947 that showed off a wasp-waist and pleated skirt, the exhibition does a throwback to a time when the hourglass figures were in vogue.

Gowns and inspirational tales and Renaissance paintings were displayed throughout the space to accompany the artistic gowns.

Other interesting effects on display include private letters, accessories, tools and never-before-seen designs.

Dior’s exhibition has four different settings, each one with their own theme and concept. The ultimate show stopper is the Hall of Mirrors, that represented a hall found at Palais de Versailles to celebrate the evolution of French Fashion.

For fans of red carpet stunners, the exhibition has a gallery, that it aptly dubs the “Dior Ballroom”, dedicated to gowns worn by Hollywood’s elite.

Some pieces that are rich in history include the that donned by Elizabeth Taylor to the 1961 Academy Awards.
