Glace et Chocolate by Studio Nendo Features Stacked Soil Walls
Studio Nendo designs Glace et Chocolate pastry in Tokyo using innovative wall aesthetics
Japanese based studio Nendo recently designed the interior of the Glace et Chocolate patisserie shop in Kichijoji, Tokyo recreating chocolate layers in its architecture with stacked soil walls.
The wall features an interesting design where soil of various shades were stacked to make it look like they were cut and staggered. According to the designers the main inspiration was the idea of ice-cream cakes which are made by layering various flavors and then cut into slices.

Its curvilinear structure allows to guide visitors into the shop due to its outer wall and all-enveloping melted ice-cream effect. This innovative aesthetic creates a relaxing ambiance while taking advantage of the existing space.
In contrast, the shop’s interior design features a bright white color pallet on which materials like marble and metal are accompanied by soft lighting and warm earthy tones. Sice Glace et Chocolat has been designed as a sister store to adjoining patisserie À Tes Souhaits! this decision aims to differentiate the two shops and broaden the world view of the overall brand.
