After introducing you to the first edition of the Luxury Design & Craftsmanship Summit, it’s time to tell you about the role Arts and Crafts will play in the event!
It wouldn’t be the same if the Luxury Design & Craftsmanship Summit didn’t showcase several arts of craftsmanship. Both days of the event will have on-location showcases where talented artisans and craftsmen will demonstrate their techniques and how they create some amazing pieces of fashion, jewelry, and furniture.
You can’t miss the event if you’re a fan of these forgotten arts!
One of those traditional arts is Leaf Gilding! Used in several of Covet Group’s top-selling pieces, this art is a decorative technique that consists in the application of fine gold leaf to solid surfaces such as wood, stone, or metal to give a thin coating of gold to the pieces. It seems easy, but it’s actually a very complex process that requires a skilled craftsman. In the Luxury Design & Craftsmanship Summit, you’ll be able to see why in a stunning showcase!

It’s so popular in Portugal that it’s protected by law and all buildings with Azulejos have to obey some strick maintenance laws! Expect to learn more about Azulejos in showcases at the event.
The Arraiolos Rugs are some of the most traditional products of Portugal. Inspired by Persian carpets, these consist of embroidered wool rugs with amazing patterns made exclusively in a manner is a small town in Arraiolos, Portugal. You’ll be able to get a taste of how these are made during the summit.
You’ll also have the opportunity to get in touch with one more traditional Portuguese crafts: The Lace of Bilros. This lace is produced by the successive crossing of textile yarns. This textile art was in decadence during the 20th century, but to avoid its extinction the Portuguese Government started several programs aimed to maintain the industry and its tradition.
