Discover the world’s first Luxury Hotel for Bees
Inspired by the Grand Budapest Hotel of Wes Anderson, Taylors of Harrogate opened a luxury hotel exclusive for bees: The Grand Beedapest Hotel!
The British beverage brand launched a campaign to raise awareness of bee’s importance in making life tastier. By highlighting the need of making urban places more friendly to bees, Taylors of Harrogate pretends to inspire people to take action and save them, assuring they keep bringing flavor to food (and teas). Research has found that animal pollination makes the tastiest fruit, and many of the ingredients in their fruit and herbal teas
The Grand Beedapest Hotel was designed to take care of bees and offer all the luxury they deserve. The ‘Rose Lemonade Restaurant’ serves plates filled with pollen, while a sugar water bath can be enjoyed in the ‘Sweet Rhubarb Suite’. Other rooms like the ‘Spiced Apple Reception’, the ‘Sour Cherry Bedroom’ or the “Lemongrass Ginger Bar” are at the disposal of the guests.
The hotel is made from balsa wood and includes traditional hollow tubes in the bedrooms, a popular nesting choice for solitary bees. Other key features, like ultraviolet patterns, have been added based on scientific research that suggests bees feel attracted to them. Therefore, guests are enticed to enter the hotel to get some much needed ‘rest and relaxation’.
This educative and entertaining campaign presents a great luxury interior design, but lacks some lighting features, in our very impartial opinion. We would have liked to see an amazing chandelier, like the one of The Grand Budapest Hotel, giving extra glamour to this bee hotel.
As we would like to be part of this project, we recommend Taylors of Harrogate to get inspired by our chandelier collection. In our opinion, the Empire Chandelier would perfectly fit in this luxury hotel and illuminate the guests staying.
