Discovering Nong Studio’s Projects
In Chinese, the word “NONG” means “do,” “create,” and “perform,” as well as “purity,” “instinctive reaction,” and “deep passion.” Shanghai lanes and alleys are another meaning of the word NONG. Since both Chasing Wang and Neal Zhu were raised in the Shanghai alleys, it made sense to use this name when they founded Nong Studio. Because they both studied abroad, they have a distinctive vision that combines cultural context with contemporary design language. They both have an eclectic sense of style. Their guiding principle is to strike a durable balance between art and design.
Residence in Shanghai
The design ideology incorporates this synthesis of Chinese and Western lifestyles. The interior decor of the home is a creative fusion of old and new, western and eastern furniture and accessories, and multicultural elements, like the rug in the living room.
Shanghai Riverfront Mansion
The most prosperous business district in Shanghai, Lujiazui, where renowned skyscrapers can be found, is where this project is situated. The customer desired a sense of Parisian elegance.
They combined a variety of materials and fabrics, such as marble, wood, velvet, stainless steel, wool, and cotton, to present a casual and opulent effect while displaying Parisian comfort and elegance. Both traditional French design elements and vibrant colors are used in the interior decoration.
Shanghai Waterfront Designer’s Home
This project in West Guangfu, Shanghai, combines various elements. It has a vibrant color scheme and lively, colorful furniture. You can undoubtedly find rug inspiration in this home because there are so many kinds of rugs displayed there.
The adjacent room was converted into a tea house, and various Moroccan and Chinese design elements, including the checkered rug and coffee table, can be seen there. One can see some Western influences in the living room with vibrant green chairs and a more somber rug.
Luxury Mansion Shanghai
This elegant apartment, which is decorated in the art deco style, is situated in Shanghai’s XinTiandi District. The celebration of the present and the past, the east and the west, passion, and vigor were the inspiration for this apartment.
In this project, Nong Studio wanted to bring art inside the apartment, so they incorporated local craftsmen’s designs into the interior decor.
My Dream Wedding Boutique
My Dream Wedding Boutique is situated on West Jianguo Road in Shanghai, which is home to many upscale boutiques. They had an idea of how to decorate the area after speaking with the owner, who described how an unmarried young girl rebelled, underwent a metamorphosis, and ultimately found her true love.
In order to transform the wedding gown shop into a place where young girls’ dreams are hidden, NONG STUDIO created a “secret garden” for little girls. In this tale, the fitting room holds the secret to happiness. A feminine and traditional rug was used in this space along with a pink color scheme.
G.K.Bridal Boutique
G.K. BRIDAL is a retailer of wedding gowns from South Korean and Spanish designers. The rose arcade in the Versailles Garden served as inspiration for the store’s design. You’ll undoubtedly get the feeling as soon as you walk in that you’re in a fairy tale thanks to the welcoming and elegant atmosphere.
With a pink and blue color scheme, velvet accents, and a sizable pink rug, the furniture has a feminine and graceful appearance. The chic and energizing dressing room is furnished with a collection of Macarons sofas. Including a golden tea table and appropriate accents.
KOKO.EL Party House
A group of imaginative and creative infants runs the banquet hall as the owner. The design was meant to be playful and tell a fairy tale in an amusing, lighthearted, and bantering manner. As a result, it makes us think of The Wizard of Oz, Up, and other classic children’s tales.
The black-and-white stripes, as well as the bold and unrestrained art, go well with the colors pink, pink orange, and pink blue. Every child who enters should feel upbeat and pleasant because that is how it was intended.
OIAM STYLING AGENCY Boutique
On Wukang Road in Shanghai, OIAM Boutique is situated in the heart of the French Concession. This contemporary three-story home serves as a shopping mall, recreation area, and workshop. It’s either public or private, though it tends to be a hybrid of the two.
The interior is retro-looking modern and exaggerated, creating an eclectic contrast with the straightforward and understated exterior. The first floor’s boldness and conspicuity stand in stark contrast to the second floor’s elegance and softness.
YI.J CHENG Jewellery Showroom
Instead of designing a large, transparent space, the designers were inspired by the owner of Y YI.J CHENG Jewellery and created a space that prioritizes the raw materials. The designer’s intentions when creating this space were to “come here, sit side by side, have a heart-to-heart conversation, look for your right gem and find the true self that’s missing is you.”
There isn’t a conventional definition of elegance and grace in this sense. In this way, space blends the old and the new. A dark room with a red-lip sofa, a blue-and-navy rug, and some golden furniture makes up one of the main areas.
BLACK BLANC Boutique
Since BLACK BLANC is a place for gentlemen, the design for this area was inspired by Kingsman, a former London tailor. It has two separate ready-to-wear areas separated by a long corridor for privacy.
Together with the brown leather sofa and the soft decorations, they used dark wood to create a more manly and British retro style. The addition of the vibrant carpet and tea table with golden chaplains made the room less formal and increased the complexity of each space.
