Statement sleeves were one of the major fashion trends seen in the red carpet show of the Oscars 2020. Once again, the Academy Awards brought a wave of fashion and political statements. Los Angeles’ Dolby Theatre shined brighter than ever with celebrities coming out in the most majestic gowns you will ever see, the women certainly brought all the elegance to the ceremony while the men’s fashion lacked a bit of more sparkle.
Janelle Monáe who commenced the Oscars 2020 show with a highly energetic performance was perhaps the shiniest dress ever. The lustrous silver dress with a hood was made by Ralph Lauren and rumor has it, it took around 600 hours to be made.
Charlize Theron has long collaborated with fashion luxury brand, Dior, so it comes as no surprise, that she came wearing a staggering custom made black Dior gown. The Bombshell star surely left everyone speechless!

The Best Supporting Actress nominee for the Oscars 2020, Margot Robbie wore a strapless navy Chanel dress with a vintage flair to it. The Bombshell actress also sported a jewel pedant and cuff sleeves.
Nominated for the motion picture, “Harriet”, first-time nominee, Cynthia Erivo wore a stunning Versace white ballgown and dazzling jewelry!
Scarlett Johansson managed to do what hadn’t been done in more than a decade, receiving two nominations for her performances in the “Marriage Story” and “Jojo Rabbit”. In regards to her outfit, Johansson wore an embellished Oscar de la Renta gown with glittering string gems.
The Academy Award-winning actress, Brie Larson surely made quite a statement by wearing a metallic Celine gown with a champagne palette to it.
At the Oscars 2020, Regina King, who won the award for Best Supporting Actress last year, came in an opulent Versace gown in various shades of pink.
While Sandra Oh wasn’t nominated, she absolutely won us over with her outstanding dress in pale pink tones. The Elie Saab-designed dress also highlighted puffy tulle sleeves and skirt.
The former Girl with the Dragon Tattoo wore an Alexander McQueen custom gown. Rooney Mara’s dress featured lace elements and structured puff shoulders.
In regards to winners at the Oscars 2020, the South Korean black comedy, “Parasite” cleaned house courtesy of the brilliance of director, Bong Joon-ho, who won a total of four categories, including best motion picture, directing and original screenplay. 1917 and Joker were also among the most celebrated movies of the years. Lastly, Joaquin Phoenix, Renée Zellweger, Brad Pitt, and Laura Dern stood out in the acting categories.
